Planning & Zoning
The Planning & Zoning Commission consists of 7 members appointed
by the mayor
and approved by the City Council for a term of 3 years. The Commission
has the powers and duties to review and recommend to the Council:
- Comprehensive plan adoption and implementation
- All proposals to adopt or amend land development regulations
- Monitor and oversee the effectiveness of the comprehensive
plan and
zoning ordinance - Requests for zoning changes
- Exercise control over platting and subdividing land within
the corporate
limits of the City of Whitehouse
Community Development
The Office of Community Development is responsible for all Planning and Zoning activities in the City of Whitehouse, including platting, initial zoning and re-zoning, construction plan review, site plan review and zoning appeals/variances. This department also operates the Recycle Center, issues building permits, schedules and performs building inspections, issues certificates of occupancy, performs code enforcement for all city ordinances and is the point of contact for companies and individuals wishing to relocate to the City of Whitehouse.
